For a Good Cause (and a Good Playlist)
You may recall me writing about my decision to run the Chicago Marathon this year in support of a charity. I had already raised more than $900 toward my $2,000 goal when the charity, Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization, shut its doors after 30 years of providing support for breast cancer patients and their loved ones.
I was completely shocked and very disappointed on a number of levels.
About six weeks later, I was put in touch with someone from the American Cancer Society’s Team DetermiNation. I helped them extend invitations to all of my former Y-ME marathon team members to join their charity team of more than 900 runners.
So now, I am officially a member of Team DetermiNation. My blue race day singlet arrived last week, and I’m proud and excited to be a part of the team.
And so my fundraising continues. This time, I’m putting a twist on it to entice my friends, family and loyal blog readers to donate to a great cause. Anyone who donates at least $25 to my team will also get to select one song for my marathon playlist. I’ll post the playlist before the race and denote which songs came from generous givers.
EMAIL ME YOUR SONG CHOICE (or post it in the comments below)
Thank you in advance for your support, Angels — and for your impeccable taste in running music. — Mags
